Tasmanian Government Procurement for Projects Arising From the June 2016 Floods

The Treasurer has approved a temporary streamlining of procurement requirements for projects arising from the floods. This is to allow Government agencies flexibility to determine the most appropriate approach to procurement for such projects. Where the Head of Agency believes that they cannot achieve required outcomes while following traditional procurement processes, they may elect to adopt a more flexible approach. This may include:

  • Direct selection of contractors or seeking quotations rather than going to full tender
  • Truncate the time contractors have to tender
  •  Seek expressions of interest and use that list to seek quotes
  • Use contractors not on relevant prequalification lists
