Environmental Officer (EA)

Civil Construction works by their nature can have a significant impact on the environment. An Environmental Officer ensures an organisation’s activities are sustainable and environmentally aware. They make sure practices meet government standards and guidelines and are also in line with company environmental policies.  An Environmental Officer undertakes environmental risk assessment, identifying potential impacts on the environment and control measures to mitigate any negative impacts identified. Environmental Officers may implement programs addressing issues such as waste minimisation or pollution control. They might also prepare reports on the effectiveness of their organisation’s activities in meeting environmental guidelines.  An Environmental Officer may write Environmental Management Plans to cover projects or sites.

Safety Officer (SA)

The Safety Officer / Manager leads the safety function, despite safety being important in every role in Civil Construction. The Safety Manager undertakes risk assessment, writes risk management plans, conducts audits and reviews work practices to ensure they are safe.  The Safety Officer / Manager would also be responsible for organising investigations where near misses, incidents and accidents occur

Quality Officer (QA)

The Quality Officer ensures that policies and procedures are in place to ensure that the project meets quality specifications. This includes ensuring the projects’ quality plan is met and the project is completed in accordance with the clients requirements and work is of a high standard. They conduct audits and have record keeping requirements.

Essential Qualifications

  • Construction White Card (EA, SA, QA)
  • Advanced Diploma of Conservation (EA Only)
  • Diploma of Leadership and Management (EA, SA, QA)
  • ISO Training (EA, SA, QA)

Optional Qualifications

  • Advanced Diploma of Conservation and Land Management (EA, SA, QA)
  • Certificate 4 in Conservation and Land Management (EA)
  • Certificate 4 in Environmental Management and Sustainability (EA)
  • Diploma of Conservation and Land Management (EA)
  • Diploma of Environmental Monitoring and Technology (EA)
  • Certificate 3 or 4 in Work Health and Safety (SA)
  • Construction Industry White Card (QA)
  • Diploma of Leadership and Management (QA)
  • Associate Degree in Engineering (QA)
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Science (QA)
  • Internal Auditor Training (QA)
  • ISO Training (QA)
