Positive Discussions at CCF Contractor’s Breakfasts

CCF Contractor’s Breakfasts were held on Thursday the 27th of October at Blundstone Arena, Bellerive, and on Friday the 28th of October at the Tramsheds, Invermay.

The topic of the breakfasts was Road Worker Safety, which was sure to trigger lively debate. Shane Gregory, General Manager State Roads and Tim Gardner, Stornoway’s Executive Chairman, shared their current concerns and launched the draft of the upcoming public awareness campaign, including showing the television commercial and supporting material that will be appearing across Tasmania very soon.

Lauren Jago, Stornoway’s Safety Systems Manager updated the group on some innovative initiatives Stornoway are trialling on their road work sites, including portable “rumble strips” – and an interactive robot that will soon be on sites monitoring traffic!

Over 40 people attended the breakfast in Bellerive and another 20 were at Invermay, from a good cross section of the industry and stakeholders.

CCF Tasmania would like to thank Dial Before You Dig for sponsoring these very timely events. Also, we would like to thank Shane, Tim and Lauren for giving their time and sharing their insights into this important issue.
